THE SECRET OF ENJOYING LIFE
I Peter 3:10
For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
Do you need permission to enjoy life? Of course not. The joy of living ought to permeate every period of our life, right up to old age. This is not to ignore the fact that many people have had some pretty rough experiences in life, but good Christian living can take us over the top of any situation. Even when you are reminded of painful events in your past, the love of God will keep you from being overwhelmed. I would encourage you not to miss enjoying life in the fellowship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the here and now. Whatever your age, you can discover that it is great just to be alive in Christian living.
How can we love life, and see good day? Just refrain your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile. Here we are being warned that we must keep in mind there will be a day of accountability for our every word. So, if I will really love life, I must heed the warning and never allow my tongue to destroy the joy of living. Just stay close to God and Christian principles and life will turn out very well indeed.
If you are not a Christian and you haven't discovered the joy of God for your life, please allow me encourage you to discover real living in Christ Jesus. To illustrate my point, I will tell you a Hasidic Jewish story about a man who went for a walk in a forest and got lost. He wandered around for hours trying to find his way back home. Suddenly he came across another traveler who was also lost, and together they sat down to discuss what they could do to find their way out. I know, said one, let's tell each other what paths we have tried and then it will be that much easier to find our way out. That is what they did, and within a short period of time, they both emerged safely from the forest. For all of those who have been wandering lost in the forest of this world, listen to the advice of those who have found their way out. If you have tried one meaningless path after another, please allow me to point you to the Way of life that you now love life, and see good day. Believe me, there can be no greater joy.
